Overview
Thank you for your interest in completing an advanced practice clinical rotation experience at TidalHealth.
We welcome motivated candidates to continue their learning in a clinical environment through the Preceptorship Program with the intent to receive personal instruction, training and supervision to meet your program requirements while increasing your understanding of health care in a rural community.
TidalHealth offers preceptorships to medical, physician assistant and advanced practice nursing students thanks to agreements with colleges and universities throughout the country.
For additional information after reviewing the steps below, contact the Medical Education Coordinator at [email protected]
TidalHealth Application
Step 1: Confirm Affiliation Agreement
Using the list below, please confirm that your college/university is listed as having a current affiliation agreement with TidalHealth.
If your college/university is not included on the list, please have your program representative contact us at [email protected] to initiate an agreement. Requests for agreements will be based on preceptor availability and can take several weeks for completion.

Step 2: Request a Preceptor
We receive many requests from students seeking clinical rotations with TidalHealth Peninsula Regional, TidalHealth Nanticoke and TidalHealth Primary & Specialty Care. To better serve you, please use the link below to complete our Preceptor Request form. Based on availability, we will advise you if we were successful in matching you up with a preceptor.
Step 3: Surgical Orientation (if applicable)
Preceptorships with a surgeon will require the completion of an Operating Room (OR) Orientation and scheduled by the Medical Education Coordinator. Depending on availability, the orientation will be scheduled for your first scheduled day; the orientation takes approximately 3 hours. Following successful completion of the OR Orientation, the surgical educator will sign the designated area on the Preceptorship Agreement.
Required Documentation for Current TidalHealth Team Members
TidalHealth team members must provide the following documentation to participate in a Preceptorship:
- Two-page TidalHealth Preceptorship Agreement signed by the student, a school representative and the preceptor. If the preceptor is an Advanced Practice Provider (i.e. Physician Assistant, Nurse Practitioner, Nurse Anesthetist or Nurse Midwife), please request your preceptor to also have their supervising physician sign the agreement.
- COVID-19 vaccine
- Copy of student ID
- Copy of TidalHealth ID badge
- Copy of student’s nursing license (or nursing license number and state) when completing a clinical rotation related to an advanced nursing program.
- Surgical Preceptorships: documentation of completion of TidalHealth Surgical Services Orientation is required if precepting with a physician with surgical privileges. Contact Susan Lynch ([email protected]) to set up an orientation class. Students may start their surgical rotations on time, however, will not be permitted in the Surgical Services area (OR) until the orientation is complete. It can be scheduled on a day during the student’s first week so they do not have to make a separate trip.
- Complete the highlighted areas of the Information Technology Acceptable Use Policy Acknowledgement and Consent Form along with the checked areas of the Request for Information Services System Sign-On Form (only when the preceptor is requesting IT access.) DO NOT return these forms to the IT Dept. Please include these forms in your submission of documents to the Medical Education Coordinator a minimum of two weeks prior to the rotation start date to allow ample time to create your student account. Please note, you will not be permitted to use your employee log-in while on your preceptorship.
Required Documentation for Non-Employed Medical and Advance Practice Provider Students

If the preceptor is an Advanced Practice Provider (i.e. Physician Assistant, Nurse Practitioner, Nurse Anesthetist or Nurse Midwife), please request your preceptor to also have their supervising physician sign the agreement.
