This designation recognizes the program for using proper technology, testing and treatment options for patients who need knee or hip replacement surgery, also offering treatment for shoulder, foot and ankle conditions.
We prioritize patient comfort, safety, and clear communication. From the moment you start preparing for your treatment to the time you’re recovering, our goal is to involve you and your family every step of the way. We believe that recovery is about more than just surgery — it is about creating an environment where you feel uplifted and informed.
At TidalHealth, you can expect a team dedicated to using proven treatments and the latest technology to help you return to the activities you enjoy. Whether you need joint replacement, fracture care, or help for other bone and joint concerns, you can count on us to treat you with kindness and respect.
Orthopedic treatments and surgeries
TidalHealth offers a wide range of treatments to help with bone and joint problems. Our team provides:
- Robotic-assisted surgery for hip and knee replacement (available in Seaford, Delaware and Berlin, Maryland)
- Anterior hip replacement
- Total knee replacement
- Shoulder replacement
- Arthroscopic surgery
- Fracture care
- Sports medicine and injury management
These treatments are provided by a team of skilled professionals who strive for your recovery and well-being. Whether you need surgical care or support in managing your joint health, TidalHealth is here to help you get back to the things you love.
Advanced technology for joint care
TidalHealth uses some of the latest technology to help improve joint replacement surgery and your recovery experience, including the use of Stryker’s Mako robotic arm assisted technology for anterior hip and knee replacement at our Seaford hospital. This approach lets our surgeons create a personalized plan by making a 3D virtual map of your joint before surgery. During your operation, the surgeon can adjust this plan as needed and use the robotic arm to precisely remove only the bone that is diseased.
At our Berlin hospital, surgeons use the robotic assisted CORI Surgical System to make a special 3D computer image of your knee to choose just the right knee implant, plan exactly how to place it so your knee works at its best, and perform the surgery with precision.
These technologies are designed to help you get the best fit for your joint implant, which often leads to less pain after surgery and a speedy recovery. Our goal is to offer safe, accurate treatments while keeping you as comfortable as possible, so you can get back to your daily life sooner.
Getting ready for bone and joint surgery
Preparing for bone and joint surgery can feel stressful, but TidalHealth is here to guide you every step of the way. We offer a free preoperative education program that gives important information to help both you and your caregiver understand what to expect throughout your surgery and recovery. This class covers each phase of your care, including plans for going home after your hospital stay.
Before your surgery, one of our team members may talk with you about planning your recovery after you leave the hospital. Depending on your needs, you might hear about these options:
- Outpatient Services: Getting patients started in a setting equipped to help them reach their highest functional ability, typically through physical therapy several times a week with special equipment to help achieve their goals.
- Home Health Care: After surgery, expect to receive nursing or therapy visits at home several times a week if you are not quite ready to travel during recovery.
- Sub-Acute Care: Patients may opt to stay in a skilled nursing facility with focused rehabilitation and regular therapy sessions if you need extra support before going home.
- Acute Rehabilitation: For those with more serious health needs, a higher level of inpatient rehabilitation is available, offering several hours of therapy each day to help you recover safely and return home when ready.
We work closely with you to make sure you are prepared, comfortable, and confident about your surgery and your next steps toward healing.
